Remote Control Guest module
- Operating systems - full Guest functionality for Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Terminal Services, NT 4.0, ME, 98 and 95. Remote control functionality available for Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and ActiveX (e.g. in Internet Explorer).
- Host connectivity – supports remote control of Hosts running Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Terminal Services, NT 4.0, NT 3.51, NT 3.1, ME, 98, 95, CE, 3.1x, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, DOS and OS/2 4.x-3.x.
- Remote Control – view Host desktop and command prompts in windowed or full-screen mode with full keyboard and mouse control including compensation for different keyboard layouts.
- File transfer – the powerful, interactive, split-screen File Manager offers drag-and-drop file transfer functionality with crash recovery, genuine delta transfer, synchronize, cloning and scripting features. The Local Mode feature let Guests work with local folders and files in both panes offline or during a session. For automated transfers NetOp Remote Control uses scripting and ActiveX.
- Multi Chat – communicate online with Guest and Host users in formatted, line based text mode.
- Audio Chat – communicate with Host users verbally.
- Remote Management – launch a powerful console from the Windows Guest and work without disturbing the Windows Host user: Manage Disk Drives, Event log, Task Manager, Registry, Services, Shared Folders, Inventory, Command Console and System Control.
- Run program – launch commands/applications on Host computers remotely.
- Execute command – log-off, shut down, restart or wake-on-LAN Host computers remotely.
- Send message – launch pop-up message boxes on Host computers remotely.
- Inventory – collect hardware and software inventory for asset management from Windows Hosts remotely.
- Session tools – Hotkeys, Send Ctrl-Alt-Del and Ctrl-Esc, Take control, Disconnect other Guests, Session recording, Remote print, Transfer clipboard, Marker mode, Lock Host keyboard and mouse, Blank Host display, Transfer Host sound all controlled from a floating toolbar with roll-up.
- Run Guest from removable media – run the Windows Guest on other computers without installation, for example from an USB flash key.
- Call multiple Hosts – link to multiple Hosts simultaneous from phonebook or command line, include session type, window position and size.
- Multiple phonebooks – store Host connection details in xml based hierarchical file/folder structure, with import/export function.
- Request Help – allows Hosts to search for Windows Guests that provide Help Services. Get sound alert and popup message notification at incoming requests. Define actions like Send Message and Run local program.
- Quick connect – connect to Hosts directly using IP address, DNS name, Directory Service name via LDAP or user name or via a browse list with NetOp or Windows networks.
- Flexible user interface – offers independent session windows, customizable layout and event based audio alerts.
- Maintenance password – password protect the Guest configuration.
- Kiosk mode - various new options makes NetOp even more suitable for running in terminals and kiosks accessible to the public e.g. disconnect password, automatic reconnect etc.
Remote Control Host module
- Operating systems – full Host functionality for Windows Server 2003, XP, 2000, Terminal Services, NT 4.0, ME, 98 and 95. Remote control, text chat and file transfer functionality available for Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, OS/2. Remote control functionality also available for the DOS Host module.
- Multi-session – allow multiple Windows Guests to simultaneously have remote control, file transfer or chat sessions with one Windows Host. Pass keyboard and mouse control, disconnect all and suspend connect.
- Local NetOp authentication – shared password or individual Guest IDs and passwords.
- System authentication – use local system accounts and passwords.
- RSA SecureID - prompts the Guest user for a token password and pin code.
- Smart Card authentication - prompts the Guest user for authentication using Smart Card in order to access the Host.
- Centralized authentication – Windows Host can use Windows NT Domain, Active Directory and Directory Service. All Hosts can use Security Server.
- Security roles – authorize allowed Guest actions on Host by determining security role memberships. Security roles can be managed locally or centrally via the NetOp Security Server for all supported platforms except DOS.
- Confirm access – Hosts can allow or deny Guest access. Supported by all platforms.
- Session recording – Windows Host can save a session for later replay.
- Help request – Windows Hosts can request help from multiple Windows Guests using one-off Service Ticket or Help Service.
- Remote print – use printers remotely in both directions between Windows Guest and Windows Host.
- Disconnect Hotkey– allows the Windows Host to disconnect the Guest(s) by pressing a key.
- Stealth mode – it is possible to hide the fact that your computer is running a Host module.
- MAC/IP address check – Windows Host can filter access based on Guest's MAC or IP address.
- Action after disconnect – restart, log-off or lock computer after disconnecting from Windows Host.
- Notification – get a list view, audio sound or balloon tip alert when a Guest accesses the Windows Host.
- Maintenance password – password protect the Host configuration.
Gateway module
- Multi-protocol router – routes NetOp traffic between Internet, LAN, Dial-up and Terminal Services.
- Routing authentication – use local NetOp or Windows, centralized Windows NT Domain or Active Directory. Authentication is applied for incoming point-to-point connections.
Name Server module
- Centralized name management – registers Guest/Host names and resolves them into IP addresses.
Security Server module
- Centralized security management – authentication and authorization checks against MS SQL, MS Access, Oracle and DB2 databases via ODBC.
- Fault-tolerant authentication and load balancing – supports multiple security servers.
- Easy maintenance of security configuration– security settings are changed from the Security Manager module.
- Native NetOp support – use NetOp Guest IDs and Host IDs including groups.
- Microsoft Windows NT Domain support – use Windows users and groups including synthetic computer groups.

- Communication – NetOp Remote Control supports all commonly used communication protocols including TCP, UDP, IPX, NetBIOS, Windows modem, CAPI, Dial-up networking, Serial or IrDA.
- Support for IPv6 – run TCP/IP communication with 128-bit addresses (only 2003, XP).
- Extensive event logging – log session activity and keep track of more than 100 different NetOp events. Log to a local file, the NetOp Security Server, Windows Event Log or to a SNMP enabled management console.
- Strong encryption – protect sessions with up to 256-bit AES encryption, 256-bit SHA HMACs integrity check and 2048-bits Diffie-Hellman key exchange.
- Web update – schedule automatic download and installation of new builds.
- Installation – NetOp Remote Control can be installed using Microsoft Windows Installer or InstallShield.
- Deployment utility – remotely installs and updates Host modules on Windows XP, 2000 and NT.
- Multi-lingual packages– NetOp Remote Control and all accompanying electronic literature are available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese for the Windows platforms.
Common (Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, OS/2, DOS)
- Communication – all platforms support TCP and UDP. In addition Linux Host supports serial communication and OS/2 supports IPX, NetBIOS, CAPI, Serial or APPC. DOS only supports IPX, NetBIOS (also over TCP/IP).
- Installation – Linux can use Red Hat Packet Manager or zipped tar. Solaris uses zipped tar. Mac OS X uses Installer. OS/2 uses InstallShield. DOS is installed manually.
- English packages– NetOp Remote Control and all accompanying electronic literature is available in English for the non-Windows platforms.

Database
NetOp Security Server uses ODBC for communication with the database which must be SQL92 Standard compliant. The following databases have been tested successfully: DB2, MS JetEngine, Oracle and MS SQL.
Security
RSA SecurID:
For RSA SecurID authentication the NetOp Security Server requires RSA SecurID® ACE/Server 5.2 and RSA SecurID® ACE/Agent 5.5 or later.
Smart Card:
Smart Card Authentication to Active Directory requires that the Security Server(s), Active Directory and Active Directory domain controllers be configured properly. Active Directory must trust a certification authority to authenticate users based on certificates from that CA. As with any PKI implementation, all parties must trust the Root CA to which the issuing CA chains.
Help System
The built-in HTML help system requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer installed. Optionally, the Help System is available on the Internet and requires an Internet browser.
